Allstar Strawberries

Allstar produces a good crop of very large, lightcolored, sweet berries. Glossy, firm fruit makes this variety excellent for fresh eating. This widely adapted variety has performed consistently well from the East to central Midwest. It is highly resistant to red stele, with intermediate resistance to Verticillium wilt. Grows best in zones 4-8.

Annapolis Strawberries

Annapolis has attractive, high-quality berries that maintain their large size through several pickings. A vigorous and winter-hardy variety, Annapolis has resistance to red stele. With its consistent performance, Annapolis has become a top variety. Grows best in zones 3-8.

Bish Strawberries

Bish is a vigorous and productive new variety that yields firm, high-quality fruit with a dark red, glossy appearance similar to Delmarvel, except larger. Best suited to the southern Appalachian and mid-Atlantic regions, its resistance to anthracnose fruit rot will help growers successfully carry plasticulture beds over for a second cropping year. Bish has good resistance to foliage diseases. Good runner producer.

Brunswick Strawberries

Brunswick ripens early midseason, the same time as Honeoye. The plant shows good plant vigor and disease resistance. Flavor was rated excellent with good berry size and appearance. Brunswick is best adapted for home gardeners, U-Pick and farm-stand sales. We highly recommend this new winter-hardy variety. Grows best in zones 4-8.

Cabot Strawberries

Cabot is known for its huge berries, excellent flavor, winter hardiness and disease resistance. It is by far the best-tasting big berry ever! Our customer survey indicates Cabot is best adapted for northern locations and where very large fruit size is required. The berries have an excellent flavor; color and firmness were rated good. First fruits may split or be rough. Plants are vigorous but may not run freely indicating closer spacing may be required. Best in zones 4-8.

Canoga Strawberries

Reintroduced in 2005 for plasticulture and ribbonrow plantings where drip irrigation is practiced. The berries are very large, firm, bright red in color, with a shiny appearance and good flavor. Plants are vigorous and form branch crowns well in plasticulture. Plants do not runner as freely as most varieties. For matted-row production, plants should be planted closer and maintained with good moisture and fertility during the growing season. Zones 4-8.


Cardinal

Vigorous plants produce high yields of large fruit in early midseason. Fruit are firm and have good flavor. Plants are winter tender but often are planted as far north as central Missouri. Plants are not resistant to red stele but are resistant to leaf diseases.

Cavendish Strawberries

Cavendish is the result of a cross between two varieties known for their winter hardiness and attractive, large fruit. It produces high yields that ripen over a long growing season. Excellent flavor and overall quality of the fruit make this variety a good choice for commercial use and home gardens. Cooler northern growing areas are best for this plant. Cavendish is highly resistant to red stele and has some resistance to Verticillium wilt. Grows best in zones 3-8. 

Chandler Strawberries

Fruit flavor and color are exceptional on this vigorous new southern variety. High yields have been experienced throughout the Carolinas and California. Not well suited for planting north of the mid-Atlantic region due to lack of winter hardiness. Chandler is also susceptible to anthracnose disease. Grows best in zones 5-8.

Clancy Strawberries

Bred by Dr. Courtney Weber, he describes Clancy as vigorous and a late variety similar in season to Cabot or Eros. The berries are round and conical in shape with dark red color and a good flavor. Firmness and bruising rates are equal to Jewel. Since both parents are resistant to red stele disease, it is presumed that Clancy is as well.

Darselect Strawberries

Darselect is a highly productive, widely adapted variety for plasticulture or matted-row production. Its sweet, tasty fruit was rated very good for flavor and firmness. Various yield trials reported producing over 20,000 pounds per acre. Depending upon location, Darselect will fruit from early midseason to midseason. Grows best in zones 4-8.

Earliglow Strawberries

"Wonderful strawberry flavor" is this variety's trademark. Earliglow's fruit has a very firm, glossy skin, firm flesh and medium size. Its sweet flavor makes the variety excellent for fresh eating and freezing. Fruit size tends to decrease as the season progresses. Earliglow plants are very vigorous and runner well. This variety has good resistance to red stele and intermediate resistance to Verticillium wilt. Grows best in zones 4-8.

Evangeline Strawberries

Developed as a replacement for Sable, Evangeline is adapted for northern areas and produces good yields of medium- to large-sized berries. The fruit is firm and has very good flavor, color and appearance. Based on customer survey results, we highly recommend this new early variety. Grows best in zones 4-8.

Eros Strawberries

This Allstar hybrid promises to set new records in season extension. Eros has been in U.S. trials for five years and has shown improved color and fruit firmness over Allstar. Eros fruits midseason to late midseason – most commonly, just after Jewel. The berries are large and bright red with a blocky shape, above-average flavor and good fruit firmness. Eros performs well in plasticulture and in the matted-row system. Vigorous, resistant to red stele and tolerant of leaf diseases. Best in zones 4-8.

Everest Strawberries

Everest has large, firm, bright-red, flavorful berries. It is a vigorous plant with attractive, dark-green leaves and produces a crop during the summer and fall, followed by an additional spring crop. Everest will grow in all zones. Zones 4-8.

Guardian

A late midseason cultivar with moderate to high yield potential of medium to large fruit. Excellent fruit firmness and very good flavor. Susceptible to leaf spot but resistant to leaf scorch, red stele and verticillium wilt.

Honeoye Strawberries

This hybrid plant has been a top variety for over 20 years. It combines winter hardiness, high productivity, good appearance and color, together with an excellent, firm, large-sized berry. The large berries are easy to pick and produce high yields over a long fruiting season, making it our most consistent berry producer. Home gardeners will also appreciate its excellent freezing quality. Optimum flavor is produced by growing this variety in medium to light soil. Honeoye is a vigorous plant with no soil disease resistance. It remains our #1-selling, early-midseason variety. Best in zones 3-8.

Idea Strawberries

Idea is a late season variety. It is very vigorous, has red stele resistance and anthracnose tolerance. Berries are large, with light-red color and sweet, mild flavor. Plants are highly productive. Grows best in zones 4-8.

Itasca Strawberries

Released from the University of Minnesota, Itasca is a cross between Seneca and Allstar. It fruits early to early-midseason in Minnesota or early-midseason in Massachusetts. In Minnesota, fruit was larger than that of Annapolis, medium large in size, conic to blunt wedge shaped. Fruit flesh is orange-red with a classic flavor. Itasca is resistant to five races of red stele, and its foliage is highly resistant to mildew. Best in zones 3-5. Itasca should be trialed to evaluate its early to earlymidseason performance.

Jewel Strawberries

Jewel has large berries with superb quality and flavor. A top seller, Jewel performs well over a wide range of growing conditions. Home Gardeners have been very successful using Jewel due to its overall quality and consistent performance. Plants are winter hardy and vigorous, but care must be taken at renovation to maintain a good plant stand. Grows best in zones 4-8.

Lateglow

A late-season cultivar with high yield potential. Fruit are very large with excellent firmness and very good flavor. The plants are resistant to red stele and will tolerate most Missouri winters.

Mesabi Tm Strawberries

Mesabi produces high yields of large berries, scarlet-red color with excellent flavor. Berries are smooth and shiny and hold their size well. Mesabi shows good winter hardiness. Mesabi is highly resistant to red stele and also has good resistance to leaf diseases. A good choice for northern locations, especially in the northern Midwest. Grows best in zones 3-8.

Northeaster Strawberries

Northeaster demonstrates excellent vigor and high disease resistance. Production varies from site to site but is generally ample, with good-sized fruit that holds well during the season. Northeaster is prized for its very fine flavor and attractively firm berries. Also noted for its resistance to foliage diseases. Zones 3-8.

Ovation Strawberries

Ovation is a late-midseason, disease-resistant variety that joins Eros as an exciting new season extender. Fruiting later than Jewel, Ovation produces large fruit that is firm, glossy, bright red to orangered in color, with pleasant aromatics and mild flavor. The plant is vigorous, resistant to five strains of red stele and shows good tolerance to foliage diseases. USDA trials show Ovation is especially adapted to plasticulture. Grows best in zones 4-8.

Raritan Strawberries

Highly productive with the fine taste of an heirloom strawberry, Raritan is very flavorful. Its large, deep-red berries are easy to pick. Plants are susceptible to a wide range of diseases; however by using good cultural practices, Raritan can produce one of the best berries you've ever eaten. Zones 4-8.

Redchief

Berries are medium-large, sweet and have exceptional quality. This cultivar is resistant to five strains of red stele root disease and verticillium wilt. It produces runners freely, and the berries are harvested in early midseason. Excellent for freezing.

Seneca Strawberries

Seneca's fruit is very large and one of the firmest varieties we offer today. An excellent choice for growers who pick fruit for the commercial market. Performing well in the matted row, Seneca excels in plasticulture. Berries are bright red and blocky shaped, with good internal color, good strawberry flavor and good yields. Grows best in zones 4-7.

Sparkle Strawberries

The best berry for jam and freezing, Sparkle has been known for flavorful, high-quality, attractive fruit for over 60 years. Do not allow the bed to become too thick and you'll be rewarded with a nice crop of tasty, medium-sized berries. An extremely vigorous variety, Sparkle is an excellent choice for home gardeners and Pick-Your-Own operations in northern climates. Grows best in zones 3-8.

Seascape Strawberries

This dayneutral has been highly successful for northeastern growers for summer and fall production. The plants have the potential to be the most productive of any dayneutral. The berries are large, firm and have good flavor when picked ripe from the plant. Zones 4-8.

Surecrop

Berries are large, light-colored and tart with fair quality. This is one of the most productive, vigorous and disease-resistant cultivar available. Berries ripen in early midseason

Tribute Strawberries

This variety is known for its good fruit quality, high yields and disease resistance, making it popular with a wide variety of growers. Berries are firm and flavorful, medium to large in size and good eaten fresh without sugar. All zones.

Tristar Strawberries

This great-tasting variety is similar to Tribute. Its superb flavor and high dessert quality make it great for home gardeners. Tristar is also highly disease resistant. The fruit is medium in size, with deep-red color and a glossy, attractive shape. Grows in all zones.

Winona Tm Strawberries

This late-midseason variety was released for its winter hardiness for northern locations and high disease resistance. The fruit is conic in shape, large and firm, with a light, bright-red color and good flavor. Plants are vigorous, resistant to red stele and have shown tolerance to black root-rot disease. Best in zones 3-8.
